Chicago Bulls: Where And How Did It Go Wrong For The Bulls?

Management

But any missteps of Hoibergs pale in comparison to those of management.

Forget about the fact that they assembled a Frankenstein team without any regards to chemistry or advanced statistics. Forget about the fact that they hired their buddy as a coach. Forget about the fact that failed to move an extremely tradeable Pau Gasol at the deadline when they had almost no chance of title contention. Ignore the poor draft choices, degradation of team brand and bullheaded people relation skills.

  • The fact that management called a press conference at 10:30p.m. following the season’s final game at the same exact time of the Chicago Blackhawks playoff game, the Warriors winning number 73 and Kobe’s finale to talk about, of all things, accountability is maddening.

It’s like a little kid saying “I’m sorry” with crossed fingers. Nobody was watching! Real accountability would be standing in front of the media during, say, a time when people are actually tuning in and apologizing for that sorry-ass team. Of course, management’s excuse was they were “out of town” the next day.

Talk about running from your problems.

That’s why many are calling for the lynching of Gar Forman and John Paxson, or the nuclear bromance otherwise known as “GarPax.” But here’s the thing, Owner Jerry Reinsdorf is loyal to a fault. He let Chicago White Sox (the team he also owns) Executive Vice President Kenny Williams nonchalantly purchase free agents like Kim Kardashian buys shoes.

But on the other hand, he’s bad to his most valuable commodity, his players and coaches. He helped break up one of the best teams of all time and underpaid Michael Jordan. So it shouldn’t surprise anyone that he would keep GarPax. I bet he’s got a dart board with Jimmy Butler’s face on it pinned up in his office.
