NBA Rumors: Despite the lack of updates from the Miami Heat or Chris Bosh, he doesn’t plan on retiring. Don’t bet on him returning this season, though
For the better-part of the last two seasons, Chris Bosh has been battling blood clots. It’s been an unfortunate situation to say the least, but certainly one that needed to be addressed through time off from the Miami Heat on the part of Bosh.
With that said, and with a less serious bout with the illness this season, Bosh has been seen more and more on the Heat’s sideline during the last few weeks. He even made his first appearance on the Heat’s bench on the road during their Game 3 matchup with the Charlotte Hornets this weekend.
He had no traveled with the Heat since the NBA’s All-Star break, when it was discovered that his blood clots had re-emerged.

With that said, he isn’t expected to return to the court this season. No matter how much he wants to make it happen, the Miami Heat won’t allow it.
At the same time, the good news is that he currently isn’t even entertaining the though of retirement. He is expected to return to the Heat next season.
"[via Miami Herald]Bosh has indicated to associates that he has no plans to retire at this time and intends to play next season for the Heat.…Bosh, eager to return, has sought opinions from multiple doctors about whether it was safe to come off the blood thinners in order to resume playing this season. On that issue, there were different opinions among the doctors consulted by Bosh, according to two sources with direct knowledge. But most of the doctors consulted believed Bosh should continue taking the blood thinners for several months, which is common treatment for the condition, even though the clot dissipated several weeks ago. That is ultimately the course Bosh took. The Heat did not consider allowing Bosh to play while taking blood thinners, because it’s highly risky to play a contact sport while doing so."
I don’t think anyone really expected Bosh to return at any point this season, that probably would’ve been fair or feasible.
However, the fact that Bosh isn’t planning on retiring has to be considered good news. Bosh has three years remaining on his contract, worth upwards of $75 million, and he plans on playing out the terms of his deal with the Heat.

The hope is that Bosh can return next season and play blood clot free. However, the fact that it’s been a reoccurrence for two straight seasons has to be somewhat concerning.
