Stephen Curry Out for At Least Two Weeks with MCL Sprain

Most of the Warriors perfect story seemed to already have been written. They reached their goal of winning 73 games in the regular season, and Stephen Curry has found more of his magic to break his own three-point record and will be winning his second consecutive MVP award.

Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse in the first week for the defending champions. Curry left Game 1 early with a right ankle sprain. While Golden State got the job done in Game 2 without him, Game 3 had a controversial ending in favor of the Rockets.

It was believed that James Harden getting away with pushing Andre Iguodala for the game-winner would be the worst thing that happened to the Warriors in the first round.

Instead, Curry’s return in Game 4 has threatened to unravel the Warriors run as the MVP suffered a right knee sprain that took him out of the game.

Today, an MRI revealed that Curry suffered a Grade 1 MCL sprain, the lowest possible. The prognosis means that the star guard will be out for a minimum of at least two weeks and will be re-evaluated after that period.

The Warriors hold a commanding 3-1 series lead over the Rockets and are expected to make it to the second round regardless of the situation. However, an extended absence by Curry could be a steep hill to climb as they likely face the Clippers in the second round.

While Curry himself is remaining positive, the rest of the Warriors may well have to prepare for a postseason run without their best player.
