Atlanta Hawks: Three Takeaways From Their Game 5 Dominating Win vs Boston
A little home-cooking did the trick, as the Atlanta Hawks annihilated the Boston Celtics in route to a Game 5 victory; Hawks take 3-2 series lead
Game 5 started out close; the Celtics actually had the lead at the end of the first quarter, but this did not last long at all. The Atlanta Hawks took the lead by eight at half, after being down by as many as 10, and did not look back.
Up by 25 at the end of the third, the garbage time had set in and it looked more and more that the Celtics would be on the brink of elimination.
Game 5 Player Stats
- Isaiah Thomas: 7 points on 3-12 shooting
- Jeff Teague: 16 points on 5-11 shooting
- Kent Bazemore: 16 points on 6-14 shooting
- Paul Millsap: 10 points on 4-8 shooting, 8 rebounds and 6 assists
Game 5’s result was important, but one simple thing that could be even more crucial heading into Game 6 is the injury to Isaiah Thomas, who tweaked his ankle in the 4th quarter.
Without him, the Celtics chances of winning Game 6 go drastically down. Quite frankly, it would almost be impossible. Even with him Game 5 was a wreck. The Hawks are now up 3-2 in the series and will look to close it out Thursday night in Boston.
Here are the biggest reasons why the Atlanta Hawks had their way with the Celtics in Game 5.
