NBA Rumors: The Sacramento Kings will reportedly entertain the idea of shopping DeMarcus Cousins this summer, which is the right move to make
The Sacramento Kings, after fighting the elephant in the locker room for roughly the past two seasons, might finally be ready to trade DeMarcus Cousins. And it feels like the right time.
After firing George Karl, the Kings have the opportunity to clean their slate. Trading Cousins might not be the popular thing to do, but it might be necessary. Considering that Cousins hasn’t played in one meaningful game in his six seasons in the NBA, it might even be the best thing to do for Boogie too.
Plus, there’s probably no better time to trade Cousins either. He’s entering the prime of his career and still will have two years remaining on his contract. And considering the rise in salary cap, his contract is going to be viewed as one of the biggest bargains in the NBA over the next two years.

Despite his reported negative impact on the locker room, there should be a huge market for Cousins if the Kings do in fact decide to trade him, which will definitely be weighed this summer.
"[via The Sacramento Bee]…the sense within the organization is Divac is tempted by the prospect of pairing his center with his personally selected coach but that he has become increasingly frustrated by his center’s ongoing issues and, for the first time, is willing to test the market for the two-time All-Star."
"The disconnect between Karl and Divac, and Karl and Cousins, is rivaled closely by the discord within the fragmented locker room. Apart from Rondo, Cousins has few friends among his teammates. Several players privately have complained to management about his mood swings and disrespect for those around him, including his coaches and in particular Karl."
The Kings should be able to get a pretty good haul in exchange for Cousins, if they do indeed decide to move him, but they also shouldn’t feel forced to move him.
A few potential landing spots for Boogie will likely include the Boston Celtics, who have a plethora of draft picks and some nice young pieces, the Washington Wizards, who can dangle a potential sign-and-trade of Bradley Beal, and perhaps even a team like the New York Knicks or Los Angeles Lakers, who have up-and-coming youth on their rosters.

I’m sure a few other teams will likely be interested, but the onus begins with the Sacramento Kings. To trade or not to trade Boogie?
