13. Dallas Mavericks (1-4)
The Dallas Mavericks were finally eliminated this past week by the Oklahoma City Thunder – even though that series feels like it took place a month ago. The NBA Playoffs kind of feels that way.
Nevertheless, as the Mavs reflect on the season that was, you can’t help but praise what Rick Carlisle was able to accomplish with this mix match roster. Talk about Deron Williams, Devin Harris, J.J. Barea and David Lee…yea, there’s no reason why this team should’ve been in the playoffs in the first place.
Credit Dirk Nowitzki, who has been the team’s only constant in the last decade, and Wes Matthews, who was playing less than a year removed from a torn Achilles injury.
Heading into the offseason, though, the Mavs have a ton of questions to answer. Assuming that they fail to land one of the bigger fishes in free agency, what will Dirk do?
