Denver Nuggets- No. 7 pick: Emmanuel Mudiay
Redraft: Emmanual Mudiay
This was a wonderful pick for Denver for an array of reasons.
Firstly, he needs time to grow. Denver is not going to be a playoff team in the West for a couple of years, and they can use those years to allow players such as Mudiay to develop into a quality NBA star.
Secondly, Mudiay needed a smaller market. The Los Angeles Lakers and the Oklahoma City Thunder were the only two teams besides the Nuggets to draft a point guard in the top 15 first round picks. While playing over 30 minutes a game, Mudiay averaged3.2 turnovers a game, which is the 15th worst in the NBA. In any big market, an unproven rookie would have got criticized, which could have led to distrust in him.
Thirdly, Denver and their picks will be able to build around him. Why draft a star rookie if you have no intention to build around him? Denver has three big time picks in the first round which could be used to give Mudiay the help he needs. If they can give him help Denver will again become a playoff team.
