Priority: Adding A Star

Boston Celtics have two choices in this offseason besides just smaller player signings.

  • Acquire Jahlil Okafor, or perhaps another star, for their 3rd overall pick
  • Draft Dragan Bender with their pick

I can not argue with either option. The Celtics have a stacked frontcourt of mediocrity. Kelly OlynykAmir JohnsonJared SullingerTyler ZellerJonas Jerebko are all solid role players, but the Celtics do not need another role-playing big. They need a big-man counterpart to Isaiah Thomas.

With Bender getting comparisons to Porzingis, it is hard for any team to pass up on the potential next international superstar, but then again Okafor is a proven scorer in the low-post and could give them the scoring threat they need to be contenders in the East.

Nonetheless, Danny Ainge and company will have a rambunctious offseason and hopefully the best will come from it.
