Washington Wizards

NYK receives: Otto Porter

WAS receives: Kyle O’Quinn

Otto Porter was drafted as a hometown prospect to be the next big thing to pair with the talented backcourt duo of John Wall and Bradley Beal. Things didn’t work out that way.

Injuries prevented Porter from receiving consistent playing time to showcase his abilities under former coach Randy Wittman, and the trend continued this past season. Now Scott Brooks is in charge, and like Porter’s soon to be new head coach in Jeff Hornacek, likes to play fast.

Brooks though, is better off giving more time to Kelly Oubre Jr. and letting him develop. Washington will most likely give max money to Beal because they have to, but it keeps the core intact at least for one more season.

Washington is better off trading for players like O’Quinn and bolstering their bench with players like Jared Dudley departing in free agency.

The Knicks get a tweener forward in Porter who can spell Anthony in his ‘old age’, or if Hornacek really wants to experiment, start at 3 and move Carmelo Anthony to the 4 spot and play Porzingis at the 5.
