Denver Nuggets

DEN receives: DeMarre Carroll

TOR receives: Wilson ChandlerJusuf Nurkic

Toronto definitely wins this trade if it ever actually happened, but Denver needs to be making 2-for-1 trades like this.

Wilson Chandler and Danilo Gallinari are solid players, but they do a lot of the same things, and are a bit redundant in terms of skill sets. One of them needs to go, and I chose the one returning from season-ending injury.

While some would argue Toronto would need a draft pick or added player to sweeten the pot, I would disagree. Toronto made it to the Eastern Conference Finals this past season. They’re a few pieces away from being a true contender. The obvious hole is at the 4 spot, which Chandler can play.

Now so can Carroll, and they just signed him. But he didn’t play much, so they could (and should) jump on the opportunity to sell on his past performance versus his troubling injury issues to a team like Denver that needs to consolidate.

Nurkic is a bonus because he can back up Valanciunas and allow Toronto to go a different direction than a big man at No. 9, maybe some forward depth for new starter Terrence Ross? (#FREETERRENCEROSS)
