Love To The Celtics

Thanks to the Brooklyn Nets selling approximately every draft pick they had between now and 2065 (roughly), the Celtics are loaded with an obscene 13 picks in the next two years. The Celtics have no way to sign all of these players so we know they’re going to be selling. Boston is also pulling a reverse-76ers and seems to be hoarding young wings (Avery Bradley, RJ Hunter, Marcus Smart, Evan Turner, and James Young have all been acquired within the last two seasons).

Guess who’s going to be desperate to acquire young wings and draft picks? I’ll give you a hint: it rhymes with Schmleveland Schmlavaliers.

And honestly, we already kind of knew this was going to happen. Boston has been hoarding assets for years in order to pry a superstar out of another team (similar to how Houston landed Harden).

The Celtics even went so far as to court Love last summer during the brief period where he was “available”. It’s the worst kept secret in the league.

That being said, it does seem like a logical fit. Boston has the length and defensive acumen down low to cover for Love’s shortcomings. Isaiah Thomas is a great running mate for Love, given that he is probably one of the five most dangerous point guards in the league on both the pick-and-pop and pick-and-roll.

Brad Stevens is in that rare echelon of coaches that can take any given player’s skill-set and make it work, regardless of the roster composition already in place (Gregg Popovich, Steve Kerr, and Carlisle being the other three). Love in Boston absolutely SHOULD happen and so long as Boston is willing to part with Avery Bradley, I’m thinking it will happen.

Although…
