NBA Draft 2016: Results And Pick-By-Pick Analysis
5. Minnesota Timberwolves
Pick: Kris Dunn, G, Providence
This is another interesting aspect of the draft. Both the Philadelphia 76ers and Chicago Bulls heavily tried to outbid each other for the opportunity to draft Kris Dunn. In the end, the Wolves elected to keep the pick and draft him themselves.
A trade can still be made, but for the time being Dunn is a Wolf. He’s kind of the perfect fit in Minnesota, too. He’s a more complete guard than Jamal Murray and Buddy Hield and has a lot of the tools that it takes to be a star in the NBA.
Under Tom Thibodeau’s tutelage in Minnesota, Dunn should be happy where he landed. Minnesota now has one of the most talented rosters in the NBA. It’s going to be interesting to watch Thibs begin to mold his clay.
