Kevin Durant made the unpopular decision by signing with the Golden State Warriors; either way, he doesn’t need your approval

New rule: If you’re playing 2K, you can’t pick the Warriors, or you’re getting thrown out like Jazz from Fresh Prince.

Kevin Durant rocked the world when he announced via the Players’ Tribune that he would be joining the Golden State Warriors on a two-year max level deal which allows him to become a free agent again next summer.

From the jump, Kevin Durant said his choice would be a basketball decision, and somehow, I knew LeBron James and “The Decision” would be brought into this. Listen, most people didn’t have a problem with LeBron leaving Cleveland, it was just the manner in HOW he left, and that’s the difference with his decision, and Kevin Durant’s decision.

Also, for those people bringing up Chris Paul’s trade to the Lakers being stopped, it was a trade, those can be vetoed, but a free agent has the right to do sign with whomever.

Yes the Warriors hold the best regular season record ever. Yes, they have the first unanimous league MVP. Yes, they have three All Stars on their team.

I get it, I promise I do, but I don’t remember THIS much outrage when LeBron went to join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh – both were All Stars and Wade had 1 ring already.

“But KD joined a team that eliminated him from the Western Conference Finals.”

I get that, too. Where was this outrage when Ray Allen joined the Miami Heat? Weren’t they eliminated by the Heat? Where was this outrage when Lebron James left the Cavs when they were a #1 seed 2 years straight to join the Miami Heat?

“With a lineup like that, they better win the NBA Title next year.”

Was this a requirement for the Miami Heat and their Big 3? Did they win the Title their first year together? People leave their job of 10 years for better opportunity everyday, so what makes this any different?

If Kevin Durant re-signed with OKC, that would’ve been a problem, “He’s been there for 10 years and hasn’t won yet.”

If Kevin Durant signed with Boston, “They have IT, and Al Horford.”

If Kevin Durant signed with the Clippers, “They have CP3, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan.”

If Kevin Durant signed with the Spurs, “They have Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge.”

Regardless of where Kevin Durant signed, it was going to be an issue, let’s face it. Kevin Durant made the best decision for HIM, not you, not me, or anyone else, therefore, his decision doesn’t need your approval.

In the words of Nino Brown, “It’s always business, never personal” Kevin Durant was with the Sonics/Thunder organization for 10 years, and he owes them nothing. If you lost respect for Kevin Durant, that’s fine, I’m sure he’s not losing sleep over the best decision for him.

Plus, if it’s that big of a deal to you, just tell the Thunder to sign his mother, she’s the real MVP anyway – I kid.
