NBA: Looking Back At The Crazy Free Agency Weekend With Tweets
By Ryan Piers
The 2016 NBA Free Agency opened with a bang this past weekend. We look back, via tweets, at all the crazy that went down in its opening weekend
The 2016 NBA free agency period had a lot to live up to. 2015’s was loaded with drama despite only a few key players changing teams. The Deandre Jordan fiasco played out on social media in the form of silly emoji’s as both the casual and diehard NBA fans couldn’t peel away from their computer screens.
This year’s free agency featured more action. There was plenty of player movement ultimately capped by the biggest fish of them all, Kevin Durant, getting hooked by the Golden State Warriors. Of course, players were quick to voice their opinions.
Here is a recap of some of the best tweets from the weekend.
Before the Kevin Durant letter, Isaiah Thomas took to Twitter to lure Jamal Crawford to Boston. It didn’t work.
Dwayne Wade had really nice things to say about Tyler Johnson.
Andrew Nicholson is thankful for his new opportunity.
We’re with you Frank Kaminsky; there’s just no time to freshen up with so much happening.
Spot on. Spot on.
May the luck of the Irish be with Al Hortford.

Jaaaa right Dirk. The Mavericks can’t sign anybody!
Yep. We’re with you Nazr.
Andre Drummond showed his support for his fellow big men.

Spencer Dinwiddie with the truest thing said all weekend.
Bobby Portis sees the dollar bills flying.
Tobias Harris tried to score a free meal…
Glenn Robinson III captures it with one Tweet.

The highlight, of course, of the busy weekend was the Warriors signing of Durant. Social media erupted; Durant was trendier than the term ‘Merica on Independence Day. And NBA players weren’t shy.
Jeremy Lin pretty much says it all with this tweet…
The best, of course was Marcin Gortat.

Andre Iguodala tried to play it cool.
This after he mysteriously tweeted following a meeting with Durant.
According to the internet’s most reliable source for information, Urbandictionary.com, “Nah B” is short for “nah, bro” which seemed to indicate Durant wasn’t planning to sign with Golden State. Turns out, that wasn’t the case.
Jusuf Nurkic’s shot at Durant went largely unnoticed.
Jeff Teague thought of this witty nickname for the Warriors, or a waterpark. Either way works.
What’s NBA free agency without at least some emojis? Thank you Enes Kanter.
