Detroit Pistons
Notable Additions: Boban Marjanovic, Jon Leuer, Ish Smith
Free Agency Grade: B
The Detroit Pistons didn’t make any big flashy moves this summer, you know other than re-signing Andre Drummond to a max contract extension (which was expected), but they did add some nice complimentary pieces in Jon Leuer, Ish Smith and Boban Marjanovic.
Leuer isn’t big name, but his game compliments Drummond’s perfectly and will help give them the depth up front that they need. Ish Smith is expected to cure the team’s backup point guard issues that they fought through last season.
Boban will automatically be a fan favorite and could actually develop into a true backup center for Drummond, assuming he improves on the defensive end. His offense is there (at times), but lacks endurance and quickness to remain on the court for long periods of time. He’ll be a good project for Stan Van Gundy and the Pistons. Overall, you can’t complain about anything Detroit has done thus far.
