88-89 Accolades: NBA MVP

Magic Johnson is one of the best all-around NBA players of all time, and this was his best season of his career. He dominated the game of basketball in all aspects and did more for his team than can be found in the stat sheets.

Not only did he contribute in every which way on the court, but he did so with efficiency. During the 1988-89 season, Magic shot 51 percent from the floor 31 percent from beyond the arc – great numbers for what was at the time a non-shooting league.

Magic would go on to win the regular season MVP award. He and the Lakers would eventually lose in the NBA Finals to the Detroit Pistons.
