NBA: Power Ranking Every Team’s Starting Frontcourt Entering 2016-17
By Tony Webb
30. Phoenix Suns
Protected Starting Frontcourt: P.J. Tucker, Jared Dudley, Tyson Chandler
The Phoenix Suns are in full transformation mode. P.J. Tucker is an all-out grinder who strives on hustle and defense. His offense isn’t the prototype small forward wing player, though. Jared Dudley (perhaps SF, maybe PF) I believe will find his way to the starting five to begin the year.
As a reliable 3-point shooter, there’s not much else Dudley brings to the table on the offensive end – and his rebounding numbers aren’t what you’d like out of a 6-foot-8 forward. Tyson Chandler will fool you with the big rebound numbers and high shooting percentage, but only having a 3-foot shooting rang will do that.
The frontcourt of the Suns don’t provide an offense pop to help this team. An average of 12.2 PER is far from impressive. T.J. Warren and Alex Len remain green and will get minutes. Rookies Dragan Bender and Marquese Chriss will be fun to watch develop, but not going to be starting right away.
