NBA: Power Ranking Every Team’s Starting Frontcourt Entering 2016-17
By Tony Webb
10. New York Knicks
Projected Starting Frontcourt: Carmelo Anthony, Kristaps Porzingis, Joakim Noah
Carmelo might be on the wrong side of 30, but he still produces – averaging nearly 22 PPG last season and his 20.3 PER was respectable. It’s a new look Knicks starting 5 and it will be interesting to see how the transition goes with Carmelo.
Not afraid to take shots, he now has Derrick Rose and the emerging Porzingis to help facilitate the offense. Speaking of Porzingis, despite much scrutiny of his selection in the 2015 draft, the fans have nothing but love for their Latvian future.
He’s got plenty of range and his shooting percentage will only go up as he gains more confidence. Noah’s health remains a question, but a gritty in your face guy like Noah is exactly what they Knick’s needed. If he can return to his defensive player of the year form, the Knicks have a good opportunity to have one of the better starting fives in the league.
