2- Kawhi Leonard

Stats: 28.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 3.0 steals

Record: 4-1

Kawhi Leonard is not only looking to add a three-peat as the Defensive Player of the Year award, but also hunting his first NBA MVP award.

Leonard has led what appears to be the best team in the NBA, in the San Antonio Spurs, to a solid 4-1 start. Leonard’s rebounding numbers are down significantly, but, as the season goes on they should be on the rise.

As one of the best all-around and complete players in the league, Kawhi Leonard should drop no lower than 5th in the MVP race all season long.
