Lob City 1.0?

“Why move an All-Star point forward for a scoring wing?”

“Why isn’t the current roster good enough as is?”

To answer the second question first – it might be. I don’t know the future. The LA Clippers could dominate the Warriors in the playoffs (although, if their season series so far against them is any indicator, they won’t be a challenge for Dub Nation) for all I know.

  • I just think the Clippers need a new way to play (as evidenced by their early playoff exits the past few years) – and Gallinari is a heck of a way to do it.

The Clippers are always involved in trade rumors, typically involving one of the members of their version of the Big 3. Chris Paul may actually up and leave the team altogether in the offseason and is the most likely candidate with DJ locked up for the foreseeable future and Blake haven’t been moved yet despite being linked to some pretty good offers.

Now by adding Gallinari, the Clippers lose a point forward, but add some serious scoring – something current starter Mbah a Moute lacks.

Think about it – Chris Paul, J.J. Redick, Mbah a Moute, Gallinari, and Jordan. Chris Paul could drive into the lane and kick out to Redick OR Gallinari for 3; or Gallinari could penetrate himself and lob it to Jordan. Or Mbah a Moute could steal the ball, pass it to Paul and then up ahead to Gallinari for a slam. The possibilities are endless.

The point is this – the offense becomes more fast paced, and they still retain Mbah a Moute’s gritty defense. I think Clippers management is secretly fed up with Griffin despite trying to sweep the incident with the team trainer under the rug; and I don’t find it coincidental that Griffin is typically the name mentioned the most in trade rumors.

Could I be crazy? Sure, but isn’t the NBA?
