NBA Trade Rumors: The Sacramento Kings are reportedly “very interested” in acquiring Paul Millsap away from the Atlanta Hawks
There’s no sure thing in the NBA, especially when it comes to the transaction game. However, now that the Atlanta Hawks have moved Kyle Korver, it’s looking more and more like a sure bet that the team will also move on from Paul Millsap.
According to Atlanta Hawks beat writer Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, one team that is “very interested” in the possibility of acquiring Paul Millsap is the Sacramento Kings.
Even though that team is somewhat surprising at first glance, it makes a lot of sense. In perhaps a last-ditch effort, the Kings need to do everything in their power to keep DeMarcus Cousins engaged. Making the playoffs, and possibly acquiring a star like Millsap, could be the first step in making that happen.
The Kings are no stranger to the rumor mill. Earlier this season, the Kings were reportedly in talks with the Heat for a potential deal that would’ve netted them Goran Dragic. Evidently, the talks never materialized into much more than exploratory conversations.
Though, it looks like the Kings are ready to make a significant run at acquiring Millsap.
Side note: Even though it would be highly unlikely, and the Kings would need the help from multiple teams, but could you imagine if Sacramento managed to land both Goran Dragic and Millsap before the NBA Trade Deadline? Wait, this is the Kings we’re talking about.
Nevermind.
The Vertical also noted that the New Orleans Pelicans, in addition to the Toronto Raptors and Denver Nuggets, are also interested in Paul Millsap.
