NBA Trade Rumors: The Sacramento Kings may or may not be shopping DeMarcus Cousins; there’s uncertainty inside the organization

Less than a week before the NBA Trade Deadline, the Sacramento Kings are reportedly pondering the trade market for DeMarcus Cousins.

Shortly after saying that he was “very happy” and that Sacramento is where he wants to be, conflicting reports are emerging from the Kings’ camp.

According to The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Kings have been “engaging in trade talks” centered around DeMarcus Cousins in recent days. Wojnarowski also reported that “Kings owner Vivek Ranadive’s waffling on longing commitment to Cousins has opened to trade talks.”

Cousins is eligible to sign a five-year, $219 million extension this summer, but there’s reportedly hesitation coming from the front office on whether to pony up that type of money for the troubled Cousins.

Interestingly, just two weeks ago, ESPN’s Marc Stein reported that they weren’t trading DeMarcus Cousins, and the hope was that he would be there for a long time.

It should also be noted that, per The Vertical, Cousins’ agent has been told his player will not be traded.

Without question, Sacramento continues a game of cat and mouse. Honestly, it’s jaw dropping to witness Cousins at “peace” in Sacramento. Combined with the terminal losing, Sacramento’s ineptness in the front office should be the breaking point. So far, it hasn’t been.

Per The Vertical, the discussed deal between the Pelicans and Kings was built off the idea of moving DeMarcus Cousins for Buddy Hield, expiring contracts and multiple draft picks.

Credit the Pelicans for trying. If they were able to swing such a deal, they’d be the talk of the league. As for the Kings, well…this is just another example of them being the Sacramento Kings.

Will DeMarcus Cousins get moved over the next few days? It’s probably unlikely. However, you better believe that it’s going to be a very interesting next couple days in Sacramento.
