NBA Trade Rumors: The Houston Rockets have reportedly acquired super sixth man Lou Williams from the Los Angeles Lakers

The market from Lou Williams was growing at a remarkable rate as the NBA Trade Deadline grew closer and closer. So much so that it became a forgone conclusion that he would be moved before Thursday’s deadline.

And he was.

According to The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Houston Rockets have traded Corey Brewer and a first-round pick to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Lou Williams.

Brewer is due $7-plus million next season, but was agreed to be taken on by the Lakers thanks to a nice first-round pick that sweetened the deal.

In the end, there was nothing more that the Lakers could virtually ask for. A first-round pick is great compensation for Williams, who has one year remaining on his contract beyond this season.

Williams has been really good this season for the Lakers, where he’s averaged a career-high 18.6 points, three assists and 39 percent shooting from three-point range this season. Oh, and in only 24 minutes per night. Yup, that’s what you call a professional sixth man.

Even though he likely won’t change the dynamic of the Houston Rockets all that much this season, Williams could certainly play a key cog for this team’s second unit. And he’ll be needed, one way or another, if this team plans to make a deep playoff run.

And he should fit right in with what the Rockets like to do. Williams will be able to run, shoot and score at will next to James Harden and company.
