NBA Rumors: Deron Williams and Andrew Bogut primed to join the Cleveland Cavaliers once they clear waivers

Don’t worry, LeBron. Help is on the way.

LeBron James has been vocal about the team needing another playmaker. And how can you blame him. With no real backup point guard on the roster and with J.R. Smith sidelined for another couple weeks, Cleveland needs help in the backcourt.

So far, though, LeBron’s request has gone unanswered. However, that is likely to soon change.

More from Sir Charles In Charge

According to ESPN’s Chris Haynes, and a number of other reports, it appears that Deron Williams, who was recently bought out and waived by the Dallas Mavericks, intends to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

"[via ESPN]Cleveland in prime position to snag Andrew Bogut, Deron Williams on buyout market. Such additions would spell end of Jordan McRae’s tenure."

Haynes also notes that Bogut will likely land in Cleveland too. Bogut was part of the trade that landed Nerlens Noel with the Dallas Mavericks, but was also bought out by the Philadelphia 76ers shortly after they couldn’t find a trade parter before the trade deadline.

Both players need to clear waivers before officially signing with the Cavs.

Cleveland likely would need to part ways with one of their players, Haynes pointing to Jordan McRae likely being the casualty, in order to ink both players once they clear the waiver wire.

Essentially, the Cavs would be getting a starting caliber point guard coming off the bench in Williams, who was averaging 13 points and seven assists this season with the Mavs. As for Bogut, he’s definitely a serviceable big.

Although he’d be nothing more than insurance in case of injury. I find it hard to believe that Bogut will be getting extended minutes, even if 100 percent healthy, in Cleveland.
