NBA Rumors: Derrick Rose Wants To Re-Sign In New York
NBA Rumors: After surviving the NBA Trade Deadline, Derrick Rose has reiterated that he would like to re-sign with the New York Knicks
A few days ago, there’s was a growing sense that Derrick Rose would be a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
After numerous rumors in the days leading up to the NBA Trade Deadline, which detailed a swap between the New York Knicks and Timberwolves centered around Rose and Ricky Rubio, the former is still a member of the Knicks.
Question no is, how long will that last? Rose is on an expiring contract and has been public that he wants to sign a huge contract this summer. Despite the rumors, he has reiterated, via his agent, that he wants to remain a member of the Knicks for the long haul.

"[via ESPN]Derrick Rose’s agent, B.J. Armstrong, reiterated on Saturday that Rose “wants to be in New York” after the Knicks included the player in trade discussions prior to the trade deadline on Thursday. Armstrong added that he and Rose understand that the Knicks were operating in their best interests when talking to opposing teams about a Rose deal."
Rose was traded to the Knicks this past summer, after numerous reports of turmoil (involving Rose) in the Chicago Bulls locker room last season.
With the Knicks, Rose has had some fine moments. He’s averaging nearly 18 points and five assists in 32 minutes per game this season. He’s also shooting the rock at a 46 percent clip, which is his highest efficiency rate since his second season in league. He’s shooting a better percentage from the field than the year he won the NBA MVP.
Yet, despite his “bounce back” season, the Knicks are limping to the finish line. And the fact that New York nearly moved him for Rubio is telling.

Rose is saying all the right things, and why wouldn’t he say that the wants to re-sign with the Knicks, but I just can’t see Phil Jackson handing Rose a $20 million per year (or maybe more) type deal – which is exactly what he’s going to be looking for on the open market.
