Play the Kids

This will help immensely with the previous goal. The New York Knicks gain nothing by playing Carmelo Anthony any more this season. Not only is he still able to win a game or two on his own (see: Saturday night’s Sixers affair), but he will only continue to stunt the development of his younger teammates.

Melo has nothing left to play for other than to chase his own stats, and they should shut him down for the season sooner rather than later.

In his place, give Kristaps Porzingis (who is back tonight, possibly) as much court time as possible as the featured offensive option, and do it with players who are likely to be here for the long term. He needs court time with former Spanish League teammate Willy Hernangomez, and other potential core-pieces like Justin Holiday, Lance Thomas, and of course, the Kooze. Speaking of which…
