NBA fans won’t even get a glimpse of Ben Simmons this season and Joel Embiid is still having injury problems, what does this mean for the Philadelphia76ers?

Joel Embiid has swelling in his left knee and it was announced Wednesday that he will miss the remainder of the season. The Philadelphia 76ers have been hit with bad news time and time again. Joel Embiid has played so well in such a short amount of time that his play almost earned him an All-Star nod. Now he will have to continue to watch his team from the sidelines, an all-too-familiar place.

Last week, Philadelphia 76ers GM Bryan Colangelo explained that Ben Simmons will not be playing at all this year. In late, September he suffered a Jones fracture in his right foot during practice. After his surgery it was believed that he might return to action as soon as January. Clearly, that wasn’t the case.

Instead, recent tests have revealed that his foot hasn’t fully healed. For a player to get drafted and to miss what was supposed to be his first season has to be frustrating.

The 76ers franchise has dealt with this exact situation each of the last four seasons. Nerlens Noel and Joel Embiid both missed what was supposed to be their rookie season due to injury. Embiid missed two full seasons in a row because of injury. Ben Simmons is the latest to join the club.

Noel was recently traded to the Dallas Mavericks but despite that, the Sixers future is still as bright as ever. Embiid has been banged up for over a month and people are starting to lose faith in Jahlil Okafor, but there’s really no reason to. It’s still tremendously early in their careers and they both have a lot to prove.

During the Sixers 109-110 recent loss to the New York Knicks, Jahlil Okafor posted a double-double. Okafor scored 28 points and Grabbed 10 boards in just 28 minutes. Before Carmelo Anthony drained the game-winner, Okafor made a go-ahead basket down the stretch.

This proves that he isn’t afraid to show up when it matters. Do not lose faith in him just yet.

Ben Simmons is probably the biggest prospect since LeBron James. Hopefully, this doesn’t put any added pressure on him. Simmons should look to just play his game like he did in college and he will succeed.

Sixers fans are patiently waiting for him to get healthy and help bring their franchise back to relevancy.

All of these misfortunes may have slowed down the Philadelphia 76ers progress. Nevertheless, we should still #TrustTheProcess.
