2017 NBA Draft: 10 Prospects To Watch On The First Day Of The NCAA Tournament
By Jack Pontin
Melo Trimble, Guard, Maryland (92nd ranked NBA prospect)
The junior guard is making his third appearance in the NCAA tournament, and is coming off a Sweet 16 run in 2016. While leading his team to a 24-8 regular season record, Trimble averaged 17 points, 3.7 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game.
Trimble has been the Terps’ best player throughout the season and will need to have a strong showing in the tournament to make his way back into the discussion as a draft-able player, especially in one of the best point guard draft classes in recent memory.
Maryland plays 11th-seeded Xavier Thursday in what is expected to be an extremely competitive game. Xavier was a top-15 team in the country before hitting a rough patch in Big East play. The college Melo will have to have a big game to slide past the Musketeers and make it to the Round of 32.
