2017 NBA Draft: 10 Prospects To Watch On The First Day Of The NCAA Tournament
By Jack Pontin
Caleb Swanigan, Forward, Purdue (33rd ranked NBA prospect)
Swanigan has been dominant for the Boilermakers throughout his sophomore season, averaging 18.5 points and 12.6 rebounds per game. In addition to his impressive play in the post, he is shooting 43 percent from beyond the arc, albeit on a small sample size that only consists of about two attempts per game.
He has already won the Big 10 Player of the Year honor, and he is in contention for National Player of the Year.
After a first round upset lost to Little Rock in last season’s tournament, Purdue will look to bounce back against 13th-seeded Vermont Thursday in Milwaukee. The Boilermakers are known for their size and dominance down low, and Swanigan has a large role in that system. Although he is undersized for an NBA big, his strength will make up for what is lost in height.
