NBA Rumors: Dwyane Wade has been diagnosed with a small fracture in his elbow, and he will miss the remainder of the season; has he played his final game in a Chicago Bulls jersey?
Dwyane Wade began the 2016-17 NBA season with optimism in his hometown. He will end it sidelined with a small fracture in his elbow.
According to the Chicago Bulls, Wade will miss the remainder of the season after begin diagnosed with a fracture in his elbow. He suffered the injury in the team’s loss to the Memphis Grizzlies Wednesday night.
Question now is, has Wade played his final game in a Chicago Bulls uniform?
After showing displeasure with the Miami Heat during free agency, Wade elected to leave the franchise that he called home for the first 13 years of his career. In the end, he felt it was time for change. And that change came in the way of returning to his hometown Bulls.
The thought was that he could be that piece to catapult them into, at the very least, a top 5 team in the Eastern Conference. Coupled with the acquisition of Rajon Rondo during the summer, there was true optimism in Chicago.
However, that quickly fizzled out as the team failed to click and see eye-to-eye with coach Fred Hoiberg. Oh, and they couldn’t shoot.
Wade has a player option for next season, worth $23.8 million. Will Wade leave that much money on the table, assuming that there’s no other team out there willing to give him THAT much cash? Or will his bad experience during this lone season be enough to deter him away?
The Bulls are currently one game behind the Detroit Pistons and Miami Heat, who are tied, for the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference. If Chicago is going to make the playoffs, they’re going to have to do it without their veteran leader on the court.
Wade averaged 18.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and nearly four assists on a career low 43 percent from the field this season.
