NBA Rumors: In part, one of the reasons why the Miami Heat haven’t waived Chris Bosh is because they believe there’s a small chance they can trade him
The Miami Heat have been pretty adamant about their position about Chris Bosh. After suffering multiple bouts with blood clots, the team doctor refuses to clear him to return to basketball activities.
Bosh, who openly looked for doctors to clear him after his blood clot issues, believes otherwise. Bosh still hopes to return to the NBA, even though both he knows it won’t happen with the Heat.
Question is, why haven’t the Heat waived Bosh yet? They could’ve begun the process of removing Bosh’s salary cap hit from their books one year after he last played a game with the Heat, which was at about the NBA All-Star break.

However, Miami is reportedly in no rush to waive Bosh. And partly, according to the Miami Herald, because there’s still a small chance that they could trade him this summer.
"[via Miami Herald]Chris Bosh was scheduled to speak with a high-ranking Heat official this week, as the sides try to move past the rancor created by the Heat’s justified unwillingness to allow him to play after a third blood clotting episode and failed physical last September.…More importantly, Miami want to keep alive the not-very-likely possibility of being able to trade Bosh (after the season) to a team that might want to trade something Miami wants or a team that believes he could play or (as was the case before last month’s trade deadline) a team that needed to get to the cap floor. There were preliminary trade inquiries earlier this season."
To be clear, trading him is likely HIGHLY UNLIKELY. However, it makes sense for the Heat to keep that option, at the very least, open.
The report also states that another part of the reason why Bosh hasn’t been waived yet is because the Heat doesn’t currently need an open roster spot at the moment. So, why rush?

In the end, this saga likely ends with the Heat releasing Bosh this summer. However, it is interesting to note that a trade is still on the table. If nothing else, it adds more intrigue to this already multiple-layered storyline.
