Karl-Anthony Towns

Rounding out the NBA’s “All-Windex Team” is the former ROTY; who is more commonly referred to as “KAT.”

Fun fact: The hyphen in his name comes in-between the Karl and Anthony (as you can see above). That’s why the name on the back of his jersey is merely “Towns.” Maybe you knew that, but I didn’t, and like learning stuff like that. ANYWAYS.

More from Sir Charles In Charge

The Timberpups still have some major maturing to do, but KAT has gone from high-upside prospect to making many wonder, “Is there a limit on how good he can be?”

In his rookie season, Towns averaged 10.5 RPG, which is a respectable number considering the Timberwolves had to undergo a bit of a coaching carousel due to the death of Flip Saunders. This undoubtedly affected KAT’s play as he had a tight bond with Saunders, and who understood his skill set the best out of the remaining coaches put in charge of getting production out of Towns the remainder of his rookie season.

This season Towns has raised his RPG average to 12.1, making his career average 11.2; which I believe will undoubtedly raise a few whole percentage points by the end of his (eventual) HOF career.

Towns is currently tied for 5th place in the offensive rebounds category with 278 with….. DeAndre Jordan! He also has 639 defensive rebounds, good for 7th in the league; and ahead of aforementioned players Dwight Howard and Nikola Vucevic (in this category).

Towns is 5th in total rebounds at 917, but only holds an 11.4 and 27.0 offensive and defensive rebounding percentage, respectively. While those numbers may seem small in comparison to the other guys talked about in this piece, being in the top 15 in those categories is no small feat considering the plethora of good to great to superstar big men there are.

Oh, and he’s only 21.
