Dwight Howard, Atlanta Hawks

It may seem like a copout to choose a guy that averages 12.7 boards a game for his career, but at age 31 Howard is showing no signs of slowing down; and I’m happy for him.

Dwight used to be well-liked around the league, but ever since his stints in H-Town and the City of Angels, his public image has taken a serious hit. That hasn’t stopped Superman from doing the dirty work down low.

Howard has grabbed the 3rd most offensive boards this season at 291. He ranks a bit lower on the defensive rebounding end with 625, but he is still in the top 10 in that category; coming in at #9.

Despite the difference in numerical ranking in the first two categories, Howard is 6th in total rebounds at 916, only one rebound behind Karl-Anthony Towns.

Now, remember how I said that Drummond was 2nd in offensive rebounding percentage? (If you didn’t, it’s okay, that’s what I’m here for). Guess who’s No. 1. (Hint: It’s Dwight Howard).

Howard holds the top offensive rebounding percentage at 15.2. He’s 4th in defensive rebounding percentage at 31.8, and is 4th again in total rebound percentage at 23.6.

Whether or not you like Dwight Howard as a person, I don’t think you can pin the Hawks’ tumultuous season on Dwight. He’s done what he was brought in to do and then some.
