Rudy Gobert, Utah Jazz

Rudy Gobert might be a dying breed, but he’s doing everything in his power to keep the idea of a traditional center still alive.

With the league evolving in a fast-paced, (3-point) shooting range, Gobert (and really, the Jazz as a team) go against the grain.

The Jazz may rank 30th in pace (you know, last place), but that hasn’t stopped the Stifle Tower from racking up the 2nd most offensive boards this season (304). Gobert is no slouch on the defensive end, garnering 677 defensive boards to his name; good for 6th in the league.

Gobert is 4th in total rebounds with 981, 4th in offensive rebounding percentage (13.9), 6th in defensive rebounding percentage (29.5); putting him at 5th in total rebounding percentage (21.9).

Oh, and did I mention that he’s 1st in block percentage at 6.4 percent?

Gobert is also shooting 66 percent from the field, good for second behind DeAndre Jordan (71.4%).

Say what you want about the Jazz’s playoff chances, but Gobert’s defense (and overall play) might be a deciding factor.
