The reason Russ is my NBA MVP over Harden

It honestly comes down to the fact that Russell Westbrook has done more with less, and at this point in time much more.

He also is leading Harden in every major stat besides assists, not by much, but he is still averaging more per night, which adds up. Also, as far as shooting, Harden has the better FG% and TS%, but Russ isn’t far behind for someone who probably sees the most contested shots in the NBA. They also have the same 3P%.

Russell Westbrook has also stepped up when Harden has slipped up. Harden has been drastically underperforming compared to Russell the last 15 games or so, and whether it is “recency bias” or not, it is still a thing to account for.

Westbrook is also second to none in clutch time numbers. Harden drifts around the bottom 10. Like I said before in this article and the last one, both of these guys are so deserving and it really is splitting hairs, but I don’t believe in Co-Award winners.
