NBA Rumors: David Griffin To The Orlando Magic?
NBA Rumors: The Orlando Magic are expected to aggressively pursue David Griffin this summer, but would he leave the Cleveland Cavaliers?
Apart from LeBron James, you can make the argument that general manager David Griffin has done the best job in the Cleveland Cavaliers organization over the last three years.
When LeBron returned to Cleveland, Griffin helped surround him with the necessary talent needed to dethrone the Golden State Warriors last season. Adding the likes of Channing Frye and Richard Jefferson were moves that many scoffed at, but in retrospect went a long way in bringing a championship to Cleveland.
However, with his contract expiring at the end of the season, and with no new contract in place, the Orlando Magic will reportedly pursue Griffin for their president of basketball operations opening.

"[via ESPN]The Orlando Magic intend to offer their president of basketball operations position to Cleveland Cavaliers general manager David Griffin, multiple sources said. The Magic can engage Griffin in contract talks at the end of the Cavs’ season, sources said."
The expectation is that the Cavs will – eventually – offer Griffin a new contract, and that likely happens this summer. However, Griffin will definitely have options. If he feels slighted in any way by Cleveland, he can always take the Orlando offer.
Or, if he wants to use the Magic as a negotiating chip, he can do that too.
Griffin has been one of the league’s better general managers over the last couple seasons. And if the Magic could pry him away from the Cavs, intentionally or not, Orlando will be better for it.
As murky as Orlando’s future appears, they need a strong leader calling the shots. David Griffin, if he elects to be, can be that figure.

Although, that could mean walking away from the Cleveland Cavaliers and that could prove to be extremely difficult to do for as much success as Griffin has experienced over the last couple of seasons.
