Break It Up?

The question begs to be asked: Was the season a success? Perhaps a better, bigger picture question is whether the organization was right to build around an aging due, trading away future draft assets in the process.

As Philadelphia became the first team in NBA history to employ a multi-year tanking strategy, some have wondered whether there is still any value left in simply being a consistently above-average playoff team that has almost no hope of winning it all. There is serious dispute over this, and Memphis is at the center of the debate for many.

Some look at the Memphis Grizzlies as a model organization for their consistent approach to culture and team building. Others see an endless dark tunnel, and a team as far from contention as any in the league. There is no right answer.
