Jalen Ned and Mac McClung, two top high school basketball recruits, sit down and answer some questions about the NBA playoffs

We sat down with two top high school basketball recruits and asked them some questions about the NBA season and the playoffs.

Jalen Ned, a class of 2020 recruit from Louisiana, was receiving interest from colleges before he even stepped foot on a high school hardwood.

"De La Salle point guard Jalen Ned hasn’t even officially started high school yet, but the 2020 prospect already holds four scholarship offers from a few of the nation’s most prestigious schools."

More from Sir Charles In Charge

"“Right now, I have four offers. USC, Southern Miss, Georgia Tech and LSU,” Ned told Today’s U."

Mac McClung is a 2018 recruit, from Gate City High School in Virginia, with 10-plus offers himself.

Question – Who do you think deserves the 2017 Kia NBA MVP?

Mac McClung: You know, I haven’t watch enough games to really know all the stats. Russell Westbrook is my guy though and I love his mentality. So Westbrook it is.

Jalen Ned: Westbrook’s case for MVP is self-evident. His season-long triple-double is a historic accomplishment, and its grandeur only grows when adjusted to account for the way the game is played today. Westbrook has been the most overlooked superstar in the league. Maybe that’s because he’s an iconoclast on and off the court. He does and says things differently. People know he has talent, but the question going into the season was what would he do without Durant.

People want to doubt him, and he responded to that, night after night. His pursuit of the mystical, ethereal triple-double galvanized his support, but that was not enough to sway me completely to his side. The triple-doubles were merely a byproduct of his efforts even as they took on a life of their own.

Question – Who do you have winning in the finals?

McClung: Cleveland Cavaliers

Ned: Cleveland Cavaliers

Question – Who has surprised you most this NBA post season?

McClung: Kawhi Leonard

Ned: Gordon Hayward

Question – What should the Celtics do with the 2017 Nets pick?

McClung: Draft Markelle Fultz.

Ned: Trade it for a big man to help Al Horford.

Question – Who do you think is the best player in this upcoming draft?

McClung: Markelle Fultz. He has so much to his game.

Ned: Markelle Fultz because he has a very casual approach to the game, which manifests itself on both ends of the floor, and makes him look like he’s operating at half speed at times.

Offensively, he has a tendency to get too cute at times with his finishes inside the paint, passes and shot-selection, as he takes a lot of tough, contested looks in the mid-range area. He is still the best though.
