Likelihood: 60%

It could happen just as easily as it could not. The only reason I’m giving it a slightly better chance than a coin flip is because the Brooklyn Nets are young.

The oldest player on the Nets roster this past season was Luis Scola (36), and he was waived in February. That made Randy Foye the de facto oldest player on the roster at age 33. While that’s still old by NBA standards, typically there’s at least a few other players on the team in that age range; and the next closest person in age was Trevor Booker at 29.

I think the youngins have some serious upside, and the Nets could realize that they are closer to buying lottery tickets for the next five years then contending in the next three.

Why not roll with the kids?
