How the Knicks should approach the offseason
Front Office And Ownership Issues
I won’t mention ownership as I would like to attend a New York Knicks game one day. What I will mention, though, is that James Dolan handed the keys to a “Basketball person” to make all the basketball decisions. He has been loyal and stood by his choice. However, that choice is Phil Jackson, and nobody could have guessed how badly it all was going to go.
In a brief summary, Phil Jackson’s mistakes since going to New York…
He signed Carmelo Anthony to a contract with a no-trade clause. Since then, he has spent much time discussing trading away their star.
Phil Jackson has also stuck with trying to implement the triangle offense with the Knicks and have hired coaches to try to bring in that style of play.
From getting an old Jackson point guard in Derek Fisher to start the style, to hiring Jeff Hornacek after Fisher failed, the Triangle offense has been an absolute disaster to date. Something that has definitely not helped is the acquisition of players like Derrick Rose, who actually couldn’t be a worst fit in the Triangle.
