2017 NBA Draft: Ranking the 10 most NBA-ready prospects
3. Jayson Tatum, F, Duke
Draft Projection: Top 5
In most drafts, Jayson Tatum would be in the conversation for being the top overall pick. However, this isn’t your traditional every draft. This is a special one. Because of that, some team is going to get a great prospect outside the top few picks.
Tatum isn’t the best overall prospect in this draft, but he’s one that has a lot of tools that today’s NBA game demands.
What The Experts Say:
"[via The Step Back] A 6-foot-8 silky scoring wing, Tatum has an old-school offensive game, but his outside shooting could limit him."
Tatum is a good rebounder for his size, and could play the small ball 4 at the next level, but his shooting leaves a lot to be desired. Tatum shot 34 percent from three-point range at Duke, and that can’t be great sign for his ability from the outside at the next level.
Despite his shooting concerns, though, Tatum can flat out score. And, at the end of the day, that’s usually the most important component on the offensive side of the ball.
