2017 NBA Draft Rumors: Kings could trade up for De’Aaron Fox
NBA Draft Rumors: Using the No. 5 and 10 picks, the Sacramento Kings could end up trading into the top 3 in order to draft De’Aaron Fox
The Sacramento Kings really, really like De’Aaron Fox.
In the past few weeks, we’ve seen Fox soar up NBA Draft boards everywhere. So much so that there are whispers that the Los Angeles Lakers, who own the No. 2 overall pick, could select Fox over Lonzo Ball. However, the overwhelming opinion is that those rumors are nothing more than a smokescreen.
Either way, it’s hard to deny the fact that the Fox stock is only rising.

Which leaves the Kings, who really want to draft Fox, in a bit of a pickle. Do they risk Fox not falling to them at No. 5? Or, do they package their No. 5 and 10 picks in order to jump into the top 3 with a team like the Philadelphia 76ers?
According to ESPN’s Chad Ford, it’s a possibility that the Kings throw all their eggs in the Fox basket, and that means probably trading up.
"[via ESPN]There’s talk inside the organization about combining picks Nos. 5 and 10 to move up in the draft to secure Fox. But if they found a taker, that would be a high price to pay to move up two to three spots."
As Ford notes, it would be a steep price to pay to only move up two spots in the draft. However, if you really believe that De’Aaron Fox can be the next John Wall or franchise player in this draft, why not risk it all for him?

If Sacramento does indeed decide to trade up, they better make sure Fox is the real deal. The last thing the Kings can afford to do is throw away a top 10 pick in arguably one of the deepest drafts in recent history.
