2017 NBA Draft Rumors: There are rumblings that the Los Angeles Lakers have promised to draft Josh Jackson with the second overall pick
Over the last couple of weeks, there have been many NBA Draft rumors involving the Los Angeles Lakers.
Interestingly, they all seem to connect to the Lakers not “loving” Lonzo Ball, who most still expect to be the second overall pick. From Lonzo needing to blow the Lakers away in his individual meeting to Lonzo looking “out of shape” during said workout, it seems as if Los Angeles is trying to distance themselves further and further away from the Ball family.
Now, though, it seems they have found their guy. And it’s not Lonzo Ball.

According to Josh Gambadoro of ArizonaSports.com, Josh Jackson has likely received a promise to be drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers or Philadelphia 76ers – assuming that the Boston Celtics stay the course and draft Markelle Fultz.
"Josh Jackson has been promised – has worked out for Lakers in LA. Has not worked out for Phoenix yet. It could be Philly but likely Lakers.I believe it’s the Lakers – only reason is that is the only team I know he worked out for. Not ruling out Philly its possible."
I still remain skeptical about all this Lakers noise ahead of next week’s NBA Draft. Then again, why would the Lakers, at No. 2, be spreading so much smoke? It just doesn’t make sense.
So, maybe there is something to all these rumors. However, it should be noted that draft promises don’t exactly work out all the time. Plenty of them fall through, and many of them never even happen – despite them being reported all the time.

The Lakers may end up selecting Josh Jackson, but I highly doubt they’ve settled on a decision today. For the record, Jackson would be a nice fit for any team, including the Lakers. He can defend at an extremely high level today and his offensive game isn’t as far behind as most think it is right now.
