NBA Draft Rumors: The Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics are reportedly in serious talks on a trade involving the No. 1 overall pick, per ESPN
The Philadelphia 76ers must really, really like Markelle Fultz, and the Boston Celtics must really like Josh Jackson.
At least that’s what it appears like on the surface.
According to ESPN’s Marc Stein and Zach Lowe, the Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics are reportedly in “serious” trade talks involving the No. 1 overall pick in next week’s NBA Draft.

Fultz is expected to be the No. 1 pick, despite who has the No. 1 pick. However, with Isaiah Thomas in the fold, maybe the Celtics would be perfectly fine with moving back a couple spots in order to take a player like Josh Jackson, who has risen up draft boards since the end of the NCAA season.
"[via ESPN]Stein: One possibility, per league sources to @ESPN, is a package of a draft picks from Boston, including No. 3 overall , to the Sixers for No. 1Lowe: In current parameters, BOS would receive several picks and no players, sources say. Have to think No. 3 would be involved."
A lot can still happen between now and Thursday, when the NBA Draft takes place. Although, the fact that Boston is indeed at the very least engaging in the possibility of moving the No. 1 overall pick makes the next few days interesting.
And hey, if the Celtics are talking to the Sixers about the possibility, don’t be surprised to see them pick up the phone and make a call to Magic Johnson and the Los Angeles Lakers. If Danny Ainge is going to trade the No. 1 overall pick – and he might – he may as well get the best offer on the table.
