9. Dallas Mavericks select  Lauri Markkanen: PF – Arizona

Lauri Markkanen is one of the best shooters in the NBA Draft. As a 7-foot stretch four or five, he’d have an amazing opportunity to learn from Dirk Nowitzki, arguably the best 7-foot stretch four in NBA history.

Markkanen isn’t a great defender, but he’s a good enough athlete to survive as a starter. He’s a much better ball-handler and passer than most 7-footers, just like Nowitzki. With Nowitzki being at the end of his career, the Mavericks would be wise drafting his replacement a year early.

10. Sacramento Kings select Malik Monk: SG – Kentucky

Malik Monk is one of the best scorers in the draft. He can flat out shoot the basketball. I know the Kings already have Buddy Hield, but Monk is a better athlete with more upside than Hield. I know the Kings think Hield can be the next Stephen Curry, but that’s extremely stupid.

In this mock draft, I’m choosing what I would do. I know the Kings won’t take a shooting guard, but I would because I’m not a believer in Hield. I think Hield is a sixth man off the bench. Monk has starter qualities, and would fit nicely into Sacramento’s rotation.
