Whether you like it or not, the craziness that will ensue this NBA offseason was provoked by the Golden State Warriors; here’s why
As the confetti rained down on Oracle arena, the predictable reality set in. The Golden State Warriors were the 2017 NBA champions, and look poised to win many more.
Golden State was the dominant super team we all predicted they would be. Super teams are not new, dynasties are not new, and even lack of parody is not new in the NBA.
What is new is the dominance the Warriors exhibited on their ways to winning a championship. They weren’t even pushed, going 16-1 in the playoffs and winning by 13.5 points per game. That is ridiculous. In the past, dominant teams at least had teams that pushed them to the edge.
Chicago in the 90’s had the Knicks and Pacers. The Lakers of the early 2000’s had the Blazers, Spurs and Kings. LeBron’s Heat had the Celtics and the Pacers. Golden State had no one.
Sure, they had some breaks along the way like Kawhi Leonard getting hurt, but we all knew they would have won anyway. Now that they are here and are dominant champions, they have sent shock waves through the NBA.
