Style of Play

The Warriors expose mismatches and run bad defenders off the floor better than anyone else. To play with the Warriors you need five two-way players. You need players who can shoot and defend multiple positions.

It makes every single team ask themselves, who on our team can survive on the floor against the Warriors? Teams may now base their draft and free agent targets on players who fit against the Warriors. That may not necessarily mean the best players.

For example, you may target a 3-D player and not a big that averages 20 and 10, but struggles to switch on smaller players. Most teams try to switch everything against the Warriors. To do that, you need versatile and smart players. Teams will need to make some tough decisions when it comes to roster evaluations.

Golden State will change how teams build their rosters and how they play. Shooting and defensive versatility are at a premium more than ever.
