2017 NBA Draft: Instant reaction and grades from the first round
13. Utah Jazz from (Denver Nuggets) – Donovan Mitchell, G, Louisville
Donovan Mitchell was one of the favorite late-lottery prospects. I’m actually surprised that Mitchell fell down to 13, but the Utah Jazz didn’t waste any time jumping up and making a trade with the Nuggets to take Mitchell.
In the trade, the Jazz moved Trey Lyles and a late first-round pick in order to take Mitchell. IT’s a bit of a weird fit with the Jazz, but this will protect the team in the event that they lose George Hill in free agency.
Mitchell isn’t exactly a pure point guard, but he can play the point guard – if that makes any sense. Mitchell should fine a nice role in Utah this season.
