2017 NBA Draft: Instant reaction and grades from the first round

29. San Antonio Spurs – Derrick White, PG, Colorado

Derrick White averaged 18 points and nearly five assists last season with Colorado. He shot above 50 percent from the field and 39 percent from three-point range. Solid.

The only reason why I didn’t give the Spurs a higher grade is because they don’t exactly need a point guard if they expect to sign one in free agency. And they already have a promising backup in Dejounte Murray. So, in essence, this is a bit of a head scratcher.

However, I’ve learned never to doubt Gregg Popovich.
