3. Boston Celtics (from 76ers via Kings) – Jayson Tatum, F, Duke
This is a pick that many assumed the Boston Celtics would eventually flip for a player like Jimmy Butler or Paul George, but for the time being Jayson Tatum is a Celtic.
Tatum is a solid pick for Boston, assuming they keep it. If Boston was going to commit to Isaiah Thomas long term, drafting Markelle Fultz with the No. 1 pick never made all that much sense. However, after trading down, adding a scoring threat like Tatum adds up a bit more.
Tatum could still be moved before the night is over, but from all indications it appears lke the Celtics are going to keep this pick. Averaging nearly 17 points and seven rebounds last season at Duke, Boston is getting a natural scoring that can rebound for his size.
